We’ll offer some brief explanations of Polyvagal theory as it relates to Hakomi and spend time in some relevant experiential practices for understanding how this theory can be applied in a Hakomi way, for your own personal healing or in your professional practice.

The Polyvagal Theory was developed by Stephen Porges and applied practically by Deb Dana (Befriending Your Nervous System, and the Polyvagal Theory in Therapy). This theory about our nervous system gives us a new understanding of how much we are on automatic, constantly scanning our environment for cues of safety or possible threat, and shifting our embodied state accordingly.
